Valentine History

The Roots of Romance
Valentine's Day celebration dates back to the ancient times when the 'Feast of Lupercal' was celebrated in the honour of the Roman God of Fertility. This day falls on the 15th of February every year. According to a time worn custom, on the eve of Lupercalia (14th of Feb) a ritual of 'name drawing' was followed, during which a young man drew the name of a girl from the lot, who was to be his sweetheart for the whole year. Romance, has, of course always made the world go round but we must say that these Romans knew how to make it official. Since then, this day (14th of Feb) has been considered as the day of Cupid, the mischievous son of Venus -the Roman Goddess of Love. Lovers through the ages have taken this day as their own - a day to celebrate the finest human emotion. The reason for celebration is ageless, but it was much later that a great lover gave the day his name

**funny cat stories**
The cats have a 7th sense. For instance, years ago we had a cat who always went into hiding when she sensed thunderstorms, long before we noticed anything about it. We could rely on her forecast. :-)
Once she woke us up during the night because we had a burst water pipe. That was a great achievement because just as other cats she detested the water, but nevertheless
scratched at our door until we reacted. It was about 5 am and Molly's body was already half immersed in the water. As we opened the door the water rushed in, and the cat jumped away as if to say: "Done my duty, now back on to the cupboard!" Then she groomed herself thoroughly. No more sleep for us, but Molly was praised mightily, and she received a big helping of Whiskas as a reward. (It was her favourite brand.) Molly was a cat of her own kind. We got her when she was very small indeed. She always opened our cupboards, she even managed to open the fridge door. Once I observed how she was able to do that. She laid down on her back, grabbed under the refrigerator with both front paws, and 'plopp' it was open, she enjoyed the food, and we went without :o( Then I had a good idea to stop her thieving! *grin* I bought some elastic rope as used on roof racks of cars, then attached these on to the handles of the cupboards. Now if Molly opened a door it would automatically close again before she could put her paws in. *big grin*
Cats behave similar to human beeings, once they have to accept it does not work anymore, they'll not try no more.

Central Thai cuisine
The Thai in the central plain prefer food with smooth and lasting taste with a touch of sweetness. The way the food is served is an art in itself. The dinning table is often decorated with carved vegetable and fruit. Cuisine of the central plain sometimes combines the best of the foods from various regions.
Rice is strictly the staple food for every family in the central region. There are on the average three to five dishes to go with rice. Typical are soup, gang som (chili vegetable soup), gang phed (Thai red curry), tom yam (spiced soup) and so on. Chili fried meat dishes are for instances, pad phed, panaeng, masaman, fried ginger and green pepper, Thai salads or yam are yam tua pu, salad with sliced roasted beef. Dishes that regular feature fin a Thai meal of the central region are vegetable, namprik (chili sauce), platoo (local herring), and perhaps omelette (Thai style), fried beef of roasted pork. On the whole Thai meal should meet protein and vitamin requirements with plenty to spare.
Traditional Methods of Serving Thai Food of the Central Region
The central plain of Thailand has always been known for its progress and advance in all areas of human activity, be it intellectual, technological or cultural.
The Thai in the central region have adopted spoon and fork and a common ditching spoon as the standard cutlery set for Thai meals. For affluent families, napkins simply folded or folded into various geometrical shapes are also to be seen depending also on individual family's tradition and taste. Dishes, boiled rice and drinking water are laid on the dinning table and for the family which can afford the service of a maid, will be replenished by a waiting maid as the meal progresses. Less well to do families may do without shared spoons together, and family members take food from the dish by their own spoons.

A Friend Most True

I need to know if you’re my true friend,
will you be by my side until the end?
Can I tell you my secrets deep,
and trust them in your heart you’ll keep?
We are neither of us without our flaws,
can you accept mine as I will yours?
I’ll be a shoulder to cry on when you’re blue,
will you be there for me when I need you?
No matter how busy I will make time for you,
if you are busy will you make time for me too?
I will take your hand and comfort your tears,
will you hold me and soothe my fears?
I will give you joy and many warm smiles,
can we share that even across many miles?
I will not forget what’s important to you,
will you remember what’s important to me too?
With you my most favourite things I’ll share,
If only I know do you truly care?
If you can accept me as I do you,
then I will know you are a friend most true.

^^Thai..boxing^^

Thai boxing originated as a self defence and developed to become a sport. It is well-known for its various types of forward and backward elbow strikes, Knee strikes, swing and reversing kicks, foot jabbing and all types of fist blows. A great deal of training and coaching is required to develop this skill.
In the old days, Thai traditional boxers "had their fists and the lower arms wrapped in strings and then soaked in a starchy liquid, granulated glassy material was sprinkled on to lend additional devastating effects. When dry and hard, the pair of dress fists becomes a deadly lethal weapon." (Chaleo Manilerd 1980 : 23)
Thai boxers of today wear regular gloves and rattan headbands entering a ring with much ceremony - typical of Thai folk beliefs associated with martial sports. At every event of Thai boxing, there is a traditional musical band to provide traditional martial music for the fight. The band consists of Javanese pipe, a pair of two face drums and cymbals. Any tune can be played and varies with the phases of the fights. There is a tune for the ritual, for shadow boxing. During the fighting the piper can change the tune or the tempo to suit the action of the fighting.
For physical protection, a Thai boxer wears boxing trunks with a protective cup sewn on inside to prevent injury from kicks and kneeing. As for spiritual protection, Thai boxers believe in all kinds of charms and talismans. That is the reason for wearing lustral thread around the head and rings of charms around the biceps. No woman is allowed to go into the canvas ring for fear that her influence should destroy the strength and skill of the boxers.
Thai boxers are graded from fly weight to heavy weight, but welter, middle and heavy weight fights are rare. As with other styles of boxing, a referee controls the fight inside the ring and there are two judges who keep score outside the ring. At the opening sound of music, the two boxers in the ring will perform a short ritual of "Wai Khru" (paying homage to the teachers) and this quite often proceeds to a staging of the Four-faced Brahman dance which symbolizes four virtues: compassion, temperance, prudence and justice. Upon the completion of the prefight rites, boxers return to their respective corners to have their ceremonial headband removed and receive the last prefight instruction from their trainers. At the signal from the ring referee to fight, both boxers go into action. They fight 3 minutes rounds alternated by 2 minutes rest periods.
For foreign visitors, even if you are not interested in boxing and have never seen it before "you are almost certain to enjoy a Thai boxing match for the enthusiasm of the crowd is really infectious and to miss seeing one is rather like visiting the States and not going to a baseball match or omitting to see cricket match in England."

A poem of Valentine's Day

An Entrapment

My love,I have tried with all my being
to grasp a form comparable to thine own,
but nothing seems worthy;

I know now why Shakespeare could not
compare his love to a summer's day
It would be a crime to denounce the beauty
of such a creature as thee,
to simpy cast away the precision
God had placed in forging you

Each facet of your being
whether it physical or spiritual
is an ensnarement
from which there is no releasa.
But I do not wish release.
I wish to stay entrapped forver.
with you for all eternity.
Our hearts,always as one.

What I Love About You

I love the way you look aaaaaaaaaaat me.
Your eyes so bright and blue.
I love the way you kiss me,
You lips so soft and smooth.

I love the way you make me so happy,
and the ways you show you care.
I love the way you say." I love You "
And the way you're always there.

I love the way you touch me,
Always sending chills down my spine.
I love that you are wiht me,
And glad that you are mine.
